Why Every Business Needs a Website

Some people say that having a bad website is better than having no website at all.  That is absolutely, 100% not true. Your website is your business’ online reputation. You need to keep it updated, fresh, and exciting for your customers so that they don’t leave your page due to slow downloading time, ugly design themes, and/or content that just doesn’t make any sense.

So how do you start building a fabulous new website that everyone will flock to?  Here are some tips:

1) Choose a recognizable domain name: Many companies use abbreviations in their domain names because their company names are too long.  Make sure to choose a name or abbreviation that makes sense to the customer and that is memorable.

2) Find a good designer: Yes, you can design your own websites using content management systems like WordPress; however, the quality will be much better when you hire a designer who has been trained to create custom designs that fit the character of their clients’ companies.  We’ve been very impressed with our designer, Melanie Amorim of Mommy Doodles Designs.

3) Invest in a copywriter:  It’s very important that the copy on your website sends the right message to your customers, without any mistakes.  Hiring a copywriter to write or at least proof your content will prevent you from having any embarrassing errors, and will certainly bring in more customers. 4) Don’t forget about SEO: SEO, or search engine optimization, is the process of making your website more visible to search engines. This way, when people search words or phrases that are linked to your website, your website will show up on the search engine’s results.  It can get complicated, so it’s a good idea to look for a professional who specializes in SEO to help you out.

5) Start a blog:  Blogs are a necessity for websites now.  Not only do they improve your SEO, but they also help clients and potential customers see that you are an expert in your field.  Need help getting started? We recommend contacting the Photographer’s Blogger.
